Vessel Technologies treats the building itself as a product: designed, engineered, continuously improved and produced with the precision expected of consumer manufacturing rather than assembled bespoke on each site. Housing today costs too much to build, takes too long to produce, is too complicated to operate and too often disappoints the people living in it, and the company's position is that incremental improvement to construction methods will not fix any of that. It combines architecture, engineering, manufacturing and technology to design a new generation of multifamily buildings, several of which already have residents in the United States. Its architects work closer to industrial designers than to project architects, studying how people actually live in completed buildings.
