Owners use it to manage inventory and pricing and to replace the pen-and-paper work many stores still depend on. Its market is the tens of thousands of immigrant-owned convenience stores in the United States; more than 85 percent of independent stores are owned by Indian immigrants, and they face mounting pressure as big chains buy up family shops. Co-founder Mit Patel grew up doing that paperwork in his family's store and translating between his parents and their vendors. Most of the company works remotely.
