StartEngine runs an equity crowdfunding platform that lets everyday investors back private companies, with investments starting at $100. More than 550 companies have used it to take investment from the public, together bringing in over $1.1 billion. Co-founder Ron Miller, a veteran entrepreneur, was an early advocate of equity crowdfunding, and the platform was built to open up access to capital beyond traditional investors.
