AI underwriting agents for insurers
sixfold.ai (opens in a new tab)Zurich took Sixfold from a pilot to a rollout across the whole company in less than a year, and several of the biggest insurance carriers anywhere process billions of dollars of premium on it. The platform ingests underwriting submissions at volume, measures each risk against the insurer's appetite, surfaces insights with citations, and uses AI agents for triage, referrals and research, leaving underwriters to spend their time building profitable books. Its models deal with messy, unstructured detail: they recognise that a Florida bakery and a Montana one carry different risks, and that a manufacturer moving from toys into medical devices becomes a different proposition. The team mixes insurance operators with AI researchers and engineers, and about half of it works from the New York office three or four days a week.
