Commercial insurance for high-hazard industries

Shepherd is an AI-native commercial insurance platform for high-hazard industries, covering the builders and operators who construct the physical world from concept through construction and into decades of operation. The infrastructure behind the AI boom — data centres, semiconductor fabs, renewable energy assets — has to be insured as well as built, and underwriting those risks well requires understanding construction rather than applying generic commercial models. Its Series B was led by Intact Private Capital, whose parent is both an investor and a carrier partner, which is an unusual endorsement from the incumbent industry.
