Scout

Student information system and school operations software

Scout is building an AI-native operating system for schools, and its first product is Scout SIS, a student information system. An SIS is the database where a school keeps student and staff records. Every school has one, yet the category ranks among the least liked in software, and legacy vendors such as PowerSchool hold schools to long contracts for products that need costly add-ons to work properly. Scout automates the back-office work around that data, covering validation, legal compliance and government reporting. A leaner back office on an interoperable data store leaves districts free to concentrate on instruction, and an open platform gives newer edtech companies something to build on.
