AI world models for video and simulation

Runway builds AI world models, working from the position that simulating the world is a distinct frontier from language. Its argument is that language models alone will not solve the hardest problems — robotics, disease, scientific discovery — because those require models that experience the world and learn from their own mistakes, the way people do. Simulation is what makes that trial and error affordable: mistakes can be made and learned from far faster in a model than in reality. General-purpose simulation changes both how stories are told and how scientific progress is made.
