Reflection is a research lab building open models, working from the position that intelligence should be something people can use, customise and build on rather than something accessed only through someone else's API. Openness here is a structural claim about who gets to shape frontier systems, not a licensing preference — a model you can inspect and modify is a different kind of dependency from one you can only call. The team is deliberately small and talent-dense, building from the ground up.
