Pendulum develops probiotics targeting specific imbalances in the human microbiome. People develop a diverse and balanced microbiome early in life that shapes long-term health, but diet, lifestyle, antibiotics and ageing progressively reduce its effectiveness — a decline that is measurable and, the company argues, addressable. Pendulum built proprietary probiotic pipelines and a discovery platform to identify novel bacterial strains along with the prebiotics that sustain them, which is a materially harder scientific undertaking than formulating from strains already known and commercially available.
