Autonomous road maintenance robots
pave-robotics.com (opens in a new tab)Pave Robotics builds autonomous robots that maintain roads, and crack sealing is the first job they take on. Today that work is almost entirely manual: crews repeat physically punishing tasks next to live traffic with equipment that has changed little in decades. Pave's robots are meant to make it safer, quicker and cheaper, and the company is already building and deploying machines that do real infrastructure work. It is a four-person team in the Bay Area, founded by engineers whose backgrounds include Stanford, Zipline and Mark Rober's engineering team, small enough that everyone shapes what gets built and sold.
