Commerce platform for merchants
Lightspeed Commerce runs a one-stop cloud commerce platform for merchants, covering the systems a retail or hospitality business needs to operate, scale and give customers a good experience. Its customers are the independent businesses that make up the backbone of the economy, the segment usually left assembling several disconnected tools. The company was founded in 2005 in Montreal's gay village, and its original members were all part of the LGBTQ+ community, which is where an ethos of inclusion that still shapes the business came from. Its wider framing is building communities through commerce rather than selling software to individual shops.
