Research on AI moral status and well-being
eleosai.org (opens in a new tab)Eleos AI Research works to understand and address the potential well-being of AI systems, on the view that near-future systems could be sentient or possess other properties warranting moral consideration. The organisation also holds that research on AI well-being may bear meaningfully on AI safety, and sees its work as part of the broader effort to navigate transformative AI toward a flourishing future. Its approach is deliberately pragmatic, prioritising projects that are ambitious but tractable rather than pursuing questions that cannot yet be made empirical.
