It advises donors who want each dollar to do as much good as possible and runs funds that include Biosecurity & Pandemic Preparedness, Navigating Transformative AI, Farm Animal Welfare, Abundance & Growth, and Science and Global Health R&D. Its grantmaking helped get AI safety and security started as a field, took on existential risks such as mirror bacteria, and paid for late-stage trials of the R21 malaria vaccine. The YIMBY housing movement counted it as its first large funder, and grantees there won New York's City of Yes and California's SB 79. Its global health grants have saved more than 100,000 lives, and its farm animal grants have improved conditions for over 3 billion animals. It has offices in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco.
