Consumer finance for paycheck-to-paycheck Canadians

Bree is a consumer finance platform bringing better, faster and cheaper financial services to the more than half of the Canadian population living paycheck to paycheck. That population is poorly served precisely because the products aimed at them — overdrafts, payday advances — are priced against the assumption that they have no alternative. Part of Y Combinator in 2021, the company raised a $2 million seed round shortly after and is now growing at a double-digit monthly rate while profitable. Its culture emphasises high ownership, bias for action and tenacious problem-solving.
