Claims are a high-volume, repetitive business conducted by phone, by email and through documents that can run to 200 pages, much of it stored in systems dating from the early 2000s. Earlier software never reached the core of the work because it could neither place the calls nor read the paperwork; Avallon's agents do both. The company went from zero to seven-figure annual recurring revenue in twelve months, is growing about threefold each quarter and works with some of the world's largest carriers. Its founders come from MIT, Harvard and Cornell, and its goal is to become the automation layer for the whole insurance industry.
