Arlo

Health insurer cutting administrative overhead

Arlo is building a health insurer around the observation that most of what makes American healthcare expensive is not medical care but the machinery around it: middlemen taking a cut, fraud nobody stops, and billing systems designed to fight over payment rather than deliver care. It attacks that directly by catching fraud earlier, steering members toward higher-quality and lower-cost providers, automating operational overhead and cutting out vendors whose business is mostly extraction. AI runs through underwriting, operations, clinical programmes and member experience, so the insurer gets more efficient as the technology does. It is profitable, covers tens of thousands of members and writes hundreds of millions in premiums, growing through brokers, employers and partners.
